Note: The following has been prepared from an article that appeared in the 1957 Hendon Local Association booklet that marked 50 years of Scouting. It was prepared at their invitation by Frank Griffiths, assisted by Lionel Siret and Jack Le Fort.
The 20th Hendon Group was formed in 1946 by Mr S G Barron as an open Group meeting at the Everfield Congregational Church until 1956.
The 20th is about to take over the Headquarters of the recently closed 9th Hendon in Bunns Lane, Mill Hill. The present GSM is Mr S W Mayes.
It is believed that this is the only Group in Hendon where an award of the ‘Cornwell Scout’ badge (the Boy Scouts’ VC) was made, the lad in question being Peter Davis.
