Danemead Campsite

Danemead Campsite

Danemead campsite is owned and run jointly by Barnet, Enfield, North London and Waltham Forest Scout Districts.

It’s in Cock Lane, Broxbourne Common, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire EN11 8GG. The closest railway station is Broxbourne. Click here for the National Rail Journey Planner.

The site consists of 35 acres of ancient woodland, mostly birch with some oak, beech and hornbeam. The timber varies in density, and the eastern side is a bracken-covered slope.

Accommodation

The main accommodation on site, Hornbeam Lodge, is a multi purpose centre that can easily accommodate an adult training course, nights away weekend, expedition base, school day visit or any youth and community organisations.

The centre has sleeping for 26 people in five bunk rooms.  At the end of the carpeted bunk room corridor is the fire exit and wet room/toilet for those with disabilities.

Leading in from the main entrance, the recently refurbished kitchen is fully stocked with enough equipment for 26 and meals can be served through the hatch leading into the main hall.  The main hall has a large smart tv, ample lighting and a leaders room attached to it which can also be used as a breakout room.

The centre has WiFi throughout the building and is centrally heated, both of which are included in the price.

Outside there is an extended porch area for undercover eating or activities and to the front a large games area.  Around the centre is good camping ground if you want to extend the numbers; additional
campers are charged at the going camper rate per night.

Camping

Within the 39 acres of campsite there are a variety of different camping areas to suit every type of camp.  From the Group camp through to a Duke of Edinburgh expedition, Danemead has it all.

We welcome pre-site visits, simply book your free visit through our booking system and a warden will happily show you around.

If you have a certain site on which you would like to stop this can also be arranged as part of your booking.
