Note: This article is about the 3rd Golders Green that opened in 1950 and is sponsored by the Claremont Free Church (Baptist), and meets at Carey Hall, Claremont Road, Cricklewood. It has no connection with the 3rd Golders Green that was originally known as the 14th Hendon which closed in 1950.
On the 1st April 1971 Golders Green District Scout Council ceased to exist. At that time the nine Groups in that District and the Speedwell Venture Scout Unit joined Finchley and Friern Barnet District to form Finchley, Friern Barnet and Golders Green District. The 3rd Golders Green was one of those Groups.
Although this article will mainly focus on their time as part of Finchley, Friern Barnet and Golders Green where information prior to then is uncovered it will be added.
At the time of the transfer in 1971 the Group comprised 23 Cubs and 21 Scouts. The Cubs were led by Robert Thomas who was also the Group Scoutmaster (GSM), and was assisted by Brian and Pauline Atkinson who received their warrants in 1966 and 1968 respectively. The Scouts were led by J Taylor who had held a warrant since 1967 and D E Kill and Colin Thomas who had both been with the Group since 1969.
