Note: The following has been prepared from an article that appeared in the 1957 Hendon Local Association booklet that marked 50 years of Scouting. It was prepared at their invitation by Frank Griffiths, assisted by Lionel Siret and Jack Le Fort.
At St Mary Magdalen Church in Holders Hill Road, daughter of St Mary’s Hendon Parish Church, the 16th Hendon was formed in April 1935, through the interest of the St Mary’s (8th Hendon) Scout Group, which it is believed supplied the first two Scouters, Messrs. Delderfield and Millward.
In the years preceding his untimely death in January 1955, the Group enjoyed the enthusiastic leadership of Mr Fred Hall, as GSM. He was succeeded by the present GSM, Mr Mauchline.

According to the District Directory, dated June 1965, the above Group was still in existence and still meeting at the same location. Their scarf colour was maroon with a white border & gold cross on a white shield. Mr R S Mauchline was still the GSM, the SM was John Coleman, the SSL John Davis, the RSL Les Moss and the CM Mrs E Mauchline.
