Young Leaders (14 – 18 years old)

Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts who volunteer alongside adult leaders in either the Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs or Scouts sections. They’re a valuable asset to any leadership team and play an active role in the section, bringing a range of fresh ideas to the table and acting as positive role models for the young people they work alongside.

Taking part in the Young Leaders’ Scheme helps Explorers to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the elements of their top awards.

The Young Leaders’ Scheme in Barnet

There are 10 modules in the scheme. Module A (Prepare for take-off!) is compulsory for all Young Leaders and must be completed within three months of becoming a Young Leader. It covers key areas which every Young Leader will need to know.

A different module is delivered on the second Wednesday of every month (except school holidays) from 7.30-9.30pm at Frith Grange Scout Campsite. You can check the future schedule here.

We send a monthly newsletter to every Explorer Scout Young Leader in Barnet. To join the mailing list, Young Leaders and adult volunteers can share their Online Scout Manager record with “Barnet Borough: Young Leaders”.
