We’re hiring a Development Team Assistant!

Date: 20th Apr 2022 Author: Andrew Rush

This is an exciting role working in the heart of Scouts and making a real difference in communities. This is a real opportunity to see what Scouts is about and change the lives of young people. You’ll watch young people grow and develop in confidence because of the work you do and help bring communities together.

The purpose of the role is to deliver Scout Challenges to groups of young people which is aimed at either creating new Scout Groups where Scouts has previously not existed or restarting Scout Groups that have previously closed including missing sections such as Beavers, Cubs or Scouts within an existing group.

A Scout Challenge involves delivering an exciting and engaging programme of activities and games to groups of young people aged 6-14 as well as recruiting and mentoring new adult volunteers to create sustainable Scouts provisions. A Scout Challenge is one specific project which generally lasts for at least three months.

Your key role would be to deliver the initial Challenge programme covering the first six weeks and then to support new volunteers and mentor them to become competent leaders. Challenges are organised by the Development Team Lead Officer in conjunction with the County Commissioner, District Commissioners, Group Scout Leaders and Leaders.
