Life changing adventure in 2023

We’re excited and delighted to launch the GLN Jamboree Unit’s adventure to South Korea in 2023! We are now looking forward to building a brilliant team of young people who will become the GLN Jamboree Units travelling to South Korea in 2023!
If you’re a leader with any Scouts, Explorers or Young Leaders anywhere in our County then this is for you!
Think big. Dream wild. Act together
In Summer 2023, more than 30,000 Scouts from all over the world will gather in South Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree. This will be an unforgettable experience and we’re excited that Greater London North has been allocated 6 patrols of 9 young people. Find out more about a Jamboree from the GLN website and see the adventure on our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook socials.
We would really love it if you can share this information with all Scouts, Explorers and young leaders who are the right age to attend the Jamboree.
How to apply?
Any Scout, Explorer or Young Leader born between 22nd July 2005 and 31st July 2009 is eligible to apply for a place in the GLN Jamboree Unit. We want our Jamboree units to represent the rich diversity of Greater London North and encourage applications from every young person who meets the age criteria.
The cost of this event should not stop a young person from taking part. We will work together to raise the funds from a mix of individual contributions, fundraising, grants and donations. We have funds available to help to ensure everyone, whatever their financial background, can take part.
As part of the application process, we are asking the young people to fill in an application form which can be found on the GLN website. The application can be completed by filling in the questions on the form or by uploading a video or voice memo answering the questions. Once applications have closed, we will be hosting a selection event to help to decide on the young people who will make up the GLN Jamboree Units.

Roadshow and Virtual Q&A Sessions
We are hosting an in-person roadshow on Wednesday 20th October at 7.30pm at Wolves Lane Scout HQ, N22 5AE. At the roadshow, we will be providing some more information about the Jamboree and also allowing the opportunity to ask any questions.
As well as the roadshow, we are also holding 4 virtual Q&A drop in sessions over Zoom on Tuesday 5th, Wednesday 13th, Thursday 21st and Friday 29th October. These sessions are aimed at young people and parents or guardians who have any questions about the Jamboree.
All the information about the roadshow and virtual Q&A sessions (links, maps and all other details) is online at www.gln-scouts.org.uk/25th-wsj
Group Visits
We are also offering visits to Scout Troops and Explorer Units to help to promote the Jamboree to your young people. If you are keen for us to visit your Group to talk to them about the Jamboree, please drop us an email on jamboree@gln-scouts.org.uk with your meeting days and times.
Further Information
Many details of the Jamboree are still being developed, but all the up-to-date information is on our website and in this leaflet (PDF Download). We will also be posting over on our social media, so make sure to check us out on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – you can find all of these by searching for @glnjambo.
How else can I get involved?
We’d love to share this experience with as many leaders, Explorers, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Squirrels as possible so we’ll be organising events and updating you on our progress as we prepare for WSJ25! So, watch out over the coming months for our Join in Jamboree programme coming soon!
And finally…
The GLN Jamboree leadership team are so happy and proud to have been recently appointed through a selection process run by young people from across our County. As the Unit Leader John Nelson is joined by Amy Garrad, Sophie de Naeyer, David Bowman, Catherine Haigh and Katie Davis (top to bottom, left to right) for an exciting two year adventure. We can’t wait to see you on our journey.
