Policy and Public Affairs Youth Advocates Applications NOW OPEN

After the publication of Our Scouts’ Manifesto, the Scouts policy team at Gilwell Park are now looking for 5 Policy and Public Affairs Advocates to join the growing team.

As a Policy and Public Affairs Youth Advocate, you’ll showcase how Scouts develops #SkillsForLife and supports both young people and volunteers.

The recommendations in the manifesto will steer our actions for the next 2-3 years, offering ample opportunities for you to make a meaningful difference.

Throughout the year, your input will be instrumental in shaping our initiatives. Whether you’re passionate about outdoor learning or civic engagement, you can help drive campaigns on these critical topics.

What will I get out of this?

  • Engage directly with senior government leaders and lead campaigns for positive change.
  • Attend events like Party Conferences and connect with fellow Scouts advocates.
  • Develop invaluable skills in public speaking, campaign management, and collaborative leadership.

Who are we looking for?

  • Young people aged 18-25 within the Scout movement.
  • Particularly interested in candidates:
    • Who have not previously engaged in national youth voice or participation opportunities but are effecting change at a local or regional level
    • From Black, Asian, and ethnic minority backgrounds.

The application deadline is 09:00 on Wednesday 29th May.

The Scouts

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
