Get involved in the annual Scout Experience Survey

Date: 8th Apr 2022 Author: Andrew Rush

Your views matter more than ever.  Here’s why.

There’s one easy way that we can improve what we do, and that’s by listening to you.  You know our movement better than anyone.

This is what makes our annual Scout Experience Survey so important.  It’s your key moment in the year to have your say.

After two eventful years, your views matter more than ever.  They’ll make a real difference to the way that we support you.  They’ll help to shape what we deliver and how we can improve our services, tools and resources.  The aim, as ever, is to make Scouts as safe, easy and enjoyable as possible and to help more young people to gain skills for life.

Get involved in the annual Scout Experience Survey to help us to understand your experiences and improve support for all volunteers and young people.

Improving services

Feedback from previous surveys has been used to improve support for volunteers and young people, and to develop new digital services.  It’s also helped us to improve programme materials and training resources.

What you tell us helps us to make better decisions about how we use our time and money, making sure that we deliver the best value for you, our members.  Your responses also help us to show the positive impact that Scouts has on young people and wider society.

Changing needs

The world – and the needs of volunteers and young people – are changing, and we need to change with them.  That’s why it’s particularly important that we hear from you.

I know that many of you are still getting back into a regular routine after the pandemic.  Some of you have settled into new and different ways of doing things, with a mix of face-to-face and online Scouting.  However you’re getting on, we’d like to hear from you.

Please take part

Please share your thoughts by Friday 6th May 2022 so that we can all benefit from your experiences.

Take part in the 2022 Scout Experience Survey now

The survey will take between 15 and 30 minutes, so we recommend using a larger device (such as a laptop, PC, or tablet) rather than a phone.

Share the survey with others

Please complete the survey yourself and encourage others to do the same.

Please also share with parents/carers and young people.  We’re especially keen for young people to contribute to the survey this year.

The survey is designed for all adults, parents/carers and young people (aged 10+) currently involved in Scouts, as well as any who may have left in the last 12 months.  If you’re involved with a Group/Unit or lead young people you can share the survey using scouts.org.uk/scoutsurvey2022

We’ve created a section of the guide with template emails/letters to help you to promote the survey.

Please share on local Scout social media platforms and Whatsapp groups. The more people that we hear from, the more accurate and refined our research and analysis will be, and the more that we can help you.

Prize draw

As a thank you, everyone taking part will be entered into a draw to win £500 to spend at Scout Store.

The District that secures the most responses will also be entered into a draw for £1,000 of Scout Store vouchers, and the District with the highest proportionate responses will be entered into a draw for £1,000 Scout Store vouchers.

The survey closes on Friday 6th May 2022.

If you’ve got any questions, please read our guide or email info.centre@scouts.org.uk.

With our huge thanks for everything that you do to support young people in Scouts.

Best wishes
