Closing soon – Regional Commissioner for Greater London vacancy
We wanted to remind you that we’re looking to identify an enthusiastic and talented individual who can lead and support Scouts in Greater London as our new Regional Commissioner.
With the closing date fast approaching on 19th February 2023, now is the time to apply for the role or nominate someone you know who you think might have the right qualities and experience.
Our new Regional Commissioner will play a key role in implementing our ambitious transformation plans within Greater London.
It’s an exciting time to be involved in Scouts as we adjust and recover from the pandemic, whilst continuing our current strategy to prepare better futures and deliver skills for life to young people who want to access Scouting.
The Regional Commissioner is a key volunteer leadership role in England responsible, on behalf of the Chief Commissioner, for providing positive and inspiring leadership to the County Commissioners within their Region to empower them to deliver our Skills for Life strategy.
The England Leadership Team includes staff colleagues from the Regional Services Team plus eight Regional Commissioners, all focused on supporting the 60 County Commissioners who lead Scouts across the country.
You’ll be joining a team of talented, focused volunteers who are all passionate about bringing brilliant Scouting to every young person who wants to take part, and enjoy having fun in the process.
We’re looking for individuals who can lead and support by being a great coach, critical friend and motivator to get the best from the people our team is here to support.
We want to create the best possible team to lead Scouts in England, and I believe that we’ll do that by inviting and involving volunteers from different walks of life with different experiences, different skills and perspectives.
With this in mind you don’t necessarily need any prior experience as a Commissioner if you have the right skills and qualities to do the role.
You can find all the details on how to get involved here – give it a go and apply yourself, or nominate someone you know.
Recognising and nominating someone can really empower the nominee to identify and recognise the skills and qualities they possess, and can help to give them the confidence to apply!
In the meantime, thank you for all that you do for our adult volunteers and youth members.
With best wishes
Liz
