Chiltern 20 Challenge Hike
The main event will be on Saturday 18th October 2025 as we continue the much-loved format of starting and finishing at a big school somewhere in the Chiltern Hills and having a presentation at the end.
Any team which is not able to attend on the Saturday due to religious or work reasons is invited to participate in the event on Sunday 19th October 2025 where teams can choose a pre-selected route. Contact chiltern20secretary@gmail.com for more details.
The event is open to any member of the Scout section or Girlguiding aged between 10½ and 14 years old.
Teams participating in the Saturday event will be given a time of arrival to arrive at the start and finish location. Prior to starting, all teams will take part in a short navigation exercise.
The cost for the main Saturday event is £56 plus £2.80 Resultsbase fee and transaction charge per team (regardless of the number of walkers). This provides venue hire, transport where necessary, a light meal at the finish, First Aid facilities and administration costs.
This event will be run as close as possible to what we have done for the past forty years, with a Junior route of about 12km and a Senior route of about 20km.
Any team may be accompanied by up to two adults if the Scout Leader decides that this would be a safer option for the team.
The Sunday event on 19th October is for any team unable to take part on the Saturday to have the opportunity of taking part in a single team challenge event run along similar lines as our Chiltern 20 in 2020. The cost for this event is £20 per team, regardless of the number of walkers. This is to cover administrative costs.
