The final 6 challenges from the DC…

Get Building (Pioneering/Construction)

  • BEAVERS: Design and make a model vehicle then have a race, make a bin out of recycling to put it in.
  • CUBS: Design and make a useful wooden stand for teddys, books, etc, construct a racing car front fruit , make a tripod and set it on a pitch to play football.
  • SCOUTS : Plug holes in a pipe and retrieve your float, Use your green fingers to build this sustainable, eco-friendly willow fence somewhere at your meeting place or in your local community, show the correct way to do these, a whipping or safe rope sealing, a splice, coiling and storing a rope.
  • EXPLORERS: Practise your knot-tying skills and prepare for water activities with this fast-paced team game tie the tarp, practice knots and lashings, then test your skills by building chariots and race them outdoors, construct a plastic bottle green house.

Get Creative (Craft, design, music)

  • BEAVERS: Build a person from fruit, Design a festive card, learn a new song.
  • CUBS: design a poster to stop climate change, build a snow man from a jam jar, learn the first verse of a song in sign language.
  • SCOUTS: Design your own unique bubble gift wrapping paper, make your own campfire pudding, design your own cartoon by creating a stop motion film.
  • EXPLORERS: Design and make a water filtration system, design and make your own musical instrument from recycled materials.

Get Outdoors (Nature, Skills)

  • BEAVERS: find different types of leaves and log which trees they are from, Identify 4 different types of birds and their habitats.
  • CUBS : Visit some woodlands and discover what lives under the trees, design and make a water filter.
  • SCOUTS : Time to take note of nature and discover how the world changes around us and design a a poster how we can change it, discuss the effect of climate change, use your skills to design flood barrier.
  • EXPLORERS: Demonstrate a good knowledge of natural history terminology, particularly local animal, and plant species along with other specialist words. Take a in depth look at human activity is effecting the natural world.

Get Active (Sport, Walking, Fitness)

  • BEAVERS: Show how to put on and wear a cycle helmet correctly, Play a team sport within your coloney, understand the rules of that sport.
  • CUBS: Explain the best clothes to wear for athletics and how to be safe, complete 1 x 3 mile walk.
  • SCOUTS: Plan a hike that is more then 10 miles, how many Physical activities can you do if a short space of time, give yourself a set time to complete them and complete a log.
  • EXPLORERS: Discuss the safety rules of Athletics particularly throwing and jumping events, completely 1 hike that is more then 20 miles.

Get Together (Community & Recruitment) (This links in with the Community Impact badge)

  • BEAVERS: Introduce a friend to beavers, Identify need. Investigate what issues and challenges exist in your chosen community, decide what issue your section should act on and what you want to change, spend at least four hours personally acting on your chosen issue. You can achieve more impact by spreading your time out over a month, instead of doing it all in one go, involve others in the action. Work in a team with your section and preferably people in the community you are trying to help.
  • CUBS: Introduce a friend to cubs, Identify need. Investigate what issues and challenges exist in your chosen community, decide what issue your section should act on and what you want to change, spend at least 12 hours personally acting on your chosen issue. You can achieve more impact by spreading your time out, over four months, instead of doing it all in one go, involve others in the action. Work in a team with your section and preferably people in the community you are trying to help.
  • SCOUTS: introduce a friend to scouts, Identify need. Investigate what issues and challenges exist in your chosen community, decide what issue your section should act on and what you want to change, spend at least 24 hours in total personally acting on your chosen issue. You can achieve more impact by spreading your time out, over six months, instead of doing it all in one go, involve others from your section and a group of non-Scouts, preferably from the community you are trying to help.
  • EXPLORERS: Identify need. Investigate what issues and challenges exist in your chosen community, decide what issue your section should act on and what you want to change, spend at least 48 hours in total personally acting on your chosen issue. You can achieve more impact by spreading your time out, over twelve months, instead of doing it all in one go, involve others from your section and a group of non-Scouts, preferably from the community you are trying to help.

Get Better
Set yourself a personal challenge and improve on that challenge over a 3-month period.
