Night Hike news

1 March 2019

Date:                    Saturday 16th March 2019

Venue:                Frith Grange Camp Site, Frith Lane

Start Times:        You will be allocated an arrival time between 6.15 and 7.30pm

Finish time:        3 hours after your start time or 10pm

A challenge hike for Cubs which will cover a distance of approximately 2 miles.  Mostly along park paths with a little walking along pavements and across fields. There will also be challenges for Cubs to complete along the way. We advise that Cubs should know how to use basic map symbols and some first aid. Attendance will qualify towards a ‘Hikes Away’ badge.

Walkers should wear warm clothes, waterproof coat, hat, scarf, gloves and Group scarf. Walking boots or very sturdy shoes are advised as part of the route can be very muddy.

Wellington boots with two long pairs of socks will also be permitted. Teams will need a torch, drinks, ‘emergency rations’ and a first aid kit.

Teams will consist of up to 6 Cubs and each will need to have a DBS checked adult with them.

You should be able to enter 2 teams; if you would like more then please let me know and I will see if we have room.

Can you let me know number of Cubs and adults in each team and whether there are any vegetarians. I will be doing the shopping for this on Tuesday 12th March.

Please can you let me know if you will be entering by Monday 4th March. The cost is £1 per Cub.

In addition I would also like people to help with the following:

· People who can run a base out on the course (we will make up base teams, nobody will be alone)

This can be a base that we will provide or if you have one you would like to run, even better

· A couple of people to do check out and check in of teams, deal with paperwork and the car park

· Camp Fire

If your Group can provide any of the people above (bearing in mind that you also need to have your adult for your teams) then please let me know because I need to get all these roles filled. Any support will need to be at Frith Grange at 5.45pm.

Also if you know of anyone (leaders, Explorers, Network, SAS etc) that may be able to get involved then please feel free to pass this on or give me their details so I can approach them.

It would be great to see all our Packs attending so if you have not been to the hike before and would like more info please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
